How a town planner ended up building WordPress websites

The journey has been eventful. It started with a failed move to London (not recommended in early pregnancy), followed by volunteering with the parenting website Netmums, where I started to understand how websites work technically. I went on to learn HTML & CSS through a distance learning course.

I never considered working for myself until my husband launched his own business in 2007. That’s when I started networking and meeting other mums in the same position as me. They were running PR agencies, bookkeeping practices, and interior design businesses. These were talented, enthusiastic women doing amazing work.

But what struck me was how awful some of their websites were. They didn’t do justice to the incredible businesses behind them.

I decided to brighten up my corner of the internet. To give businesses websites that are true reflections of what they stand for, letting their personality and unique qualities shine through whilst showcasing their expertise.

Wise Genius today

I launched Wise Genius in 2010 (read about how I chose the name!), built my first WordPress site a year later, and haven’t looked back. Since then, I’ve worked with small businesses across a range of sectors, helping them make the most of their online presence.

At the heart of everything I do is a desire to get to know you and your business inside out. This ensures your website supports your goals in the best possible way. Whether that’s fixing technical issues, improving functionality, or creating something new from scratch.
